2022 BLACK BASEBALL MIXTAPE GRAIL OF THE YEAR

Nike went crazy this year for the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier. They released extraordinary Dunk Lows to honor the historic achievement. The drop, like most things on the SNKRS app, went to a drawing that was sold out immediately. The resale was intense (and hella expensive), but if you were lucky enough to get a pair, you not only got some beautiful sneakers but a true work of art. The design is phenomenal. Here is the full description from KicksonFire.com.

The Nike Dunk Low Jackie Robinson opts for a Dodgers-inspired makeup (Racer Blue/Racer Blue-Coconut). Packed with details, a few things that stand out include the Robinson’s #42 on the heels and a quote that reads, “I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me. All I ask is that you respect me as a human being” on the insoles. A closer look at the shoe shows that the Blue overlays are covered in a tonal text print with the same exact quote. A 75th Anniversary logo is housed on the tongues, a mini embroidered Swoosh is spotted on the toe box, while a felt textile material adorns the side panel Swooshes. Other notable details include two sets of laces including one done in baseball stitched motif, atop a White midsole and Black rubber sole.

The dunks were spotted all over all-star weekend in LA. They were truly coveted. As far as baseball hypebeast collaborations go — there were some great ones in 2022: BBC, Lyrical Lemonade, Alpha Industries, just to name a few, but these Dunk Lows is our grail of the year.
