Atlanta – Earlier this month, several professional players congregated at Maynard Jackson High School in Atlanta, GA, for the 2nd Annual Sandlot Stars Baseball Camp. The free camp was hosted by FutureisNear, the community-based organization founded by Cincinnati Reds outfielder Will Benson. Minority Baseball Prospects, Black Cobra Media, and MLB also lent their support and talents to the camp. Pro players in attendance included Benson, Marc Church, Akil Baddoo, Xzavion Curry, Temarr Johnson, Lawrence Butler, Taylor Trammell, and Bret Roberts.
The opportunity to receive mentorship from pro players is a powerful experience for young ballers. The Sandlot Stars camp provides inspiration and a north star for youth players to chart their own course in the game. In just its second year, the Sandlot Stars camp is impacting their lives, on and off the field.
BBM offers a special shout-out to Will and all the professional players helping to lay the foundation for the next generation of Black ballplayers.
