The Captain Joined Social Media this Week! Does that Mean Instagram is Officially Washed?

Let me be very clear: I ROCK WITH DEREK JETER! I’m not a Yankees fan, but I loved the way he played the game. And I REALLY wanted Jeter to succeed in Miami. Lawd knows we need more Black executives in MLB. The Captian is a pioneer, for real. The Players Tribune is already a classic platform. But let me also be clear: Jeter is your older relative that always discovers the new wave ten years too late. Exhibit A: Jeter just joined Twitter and Instagram this week. Go follow @DerekJeter (on both platforms).

Did you see that episode of Abbot Elementary when the new wave was desking? Kids jumping on desks to cross the floor. Do you remember how desking ended? They filmed the most uncool teacher, Mr. Hill desking, and the kids were like — this is over. Jeter is not Mr. Hill – but the sentiment remains. So, follow the Captian while you can. Twitter will always survive, IG may be over.

P.S. I recently discover this Jeter playlist on Tidal. Overall, it’s not worthy of Jeter’s name, but I will share it nonetheless.
