I have a very special guest on today’s episode: Former Professional Baseball Player Xavier Scruggs is joining me on the Cheats Movement Podcast.
X came across my radar because of his work in baseball media with ESPN and the MLB Network. He hosts an excellent podcast called “The Bigs” on MLB Network and is also very active on social media posting and vlogging often. In addition to all of that, X is an entrepreneur. He started Xtraordinary Athletes, a business that helps athletes take their brand to the next level. And finally, is the diversity and equality consultant for the St. Louis Cardinals.
We pull no punches and talk about the landscape that has allowed Black American baseball players to dwindle to near-record low numbers (8% in MLB, 6% in NCAA D1), and what can be done to correct the trend. We speak about his love for the game, and what baseball players he finds most exciting. We talk about fun stuff too: his family, faith, and even his favorite baseball movie.
This episode is absolutely one of my favorites. I love talking about baseball and creative ways to grow the game. And I think X is just the right type of leader for this task. Please follow him at @Xavier_Scruggs and Xavier Scruggs on Youtube.
While you are at it, please follow THE FAMILY podcast network at www.thefamilypn.com – and special thanks to our recording sponsor the VPM/VCU ICA Community Media Center. We are honored to record our podcast in that amazing institution.
