2022 BLACK BASEBALL MIXTAPE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: AARON JUDGE

You know what? Many people in the media try to zag when everyone is zigging. Why? Because they want to be different. They want to be the contrary. They want to be the smartest person in the room. Well, sometimes being smart is stating the obvious. Aaron Judge had one of the best seasons in the history of baseball, and if anyone tries to justify why he is not player of the year…well, then they are the crazy ones.

There is not much to say: 157 Games, 311 Average, 62 HRs, 131 RBI, did I mention 62 HRs, 111 walks, 16 SB, and 62 HRs, 686 SLG, 425 OPS, DID I MENTION 62 HRS!!!

Judge bet on himself last season, rejecting the Yankees’ low-ball offer and playing the season without a long-term deal. It was a super-risky move. And, to be honest, it could have gone left very fast. But, as Marlo in The Wire famously said, “It’s the other way.” It went the way of Judge; and baseball fans everywhere. He delivered one of the best seasons in MLB history. He led the Yankees to 99 wins and an AL East crown. He bet on himself, and he won.

He was recently named the 16th captain in Yankees history. He signed a $360 million dollar deal that will keep Judge in the Bronx for the next 9 years.

Way to go, Aaron! ALL RISE! You are the BBM Player of the Year.
